Pray Always

The Lord’s Prayer, the Jesus Prayer, and prayers for reading, understanding, repentance, and trust.

The Lord’s Prayer

Matthew 6:13

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Matthew 6:13

Jesus Prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

Prayer before reading the Bible

Lord, help me to understand what you would say to me as I read your book, and give me the desire to live according to your rule of love. Amen.

Prayer when conscious of your failings and faults

Help me Lord to recognize my faults, and the distress they bring to others. Show me the way to forgiveness that Jesus brings through his self-giving sacrifice on the cross. Amen.

Prayer for understanding

Lord, help me to understand what you would say to me, as I read Your book, and give me the desire to live according to Your teachings. Amen.

Help me Lord, to recognize my faults, and the distress they bring to others. Show me the way of forgiveness that Jesus himself has provided through His sacrifice of Himself on the cross. Amen.

You know and have made everything Lord. Help me to be content in the sure knowledge that Your will is best. Amen.

Help me Lord, to accept that I can’t possibly know everything, and to rest secure in the certainty that you are the source of all truth. Amen.

Lead me Lord, into the path of Your choosing, and give me patience to follow in that pathway, however great the difficulties or uncertainties that may arise. Amen.

You are the fountain of all hope and goodness, Lord. Give me the will to share with others the blessings which in Your love You have chosen to give me. Amen.

Lord God, I admit I’ve done wrong and have not acknowledged You as Lord. I ask You, Lord Jesus, to come into my heart and be my saviour. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

02 / Orthodox Creed

The Orthodox Creed of Faith

Creed in English

I believe in one God, The Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth and of all things visible and invisible. And in One Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the only-begotten, begotten of the Father before all ages. Light of light; true God of true God; begotten, not made; of one essence with the Father, by Whom all things were made; Who for us men and for our salvation came down from Heaven, and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became man. And He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered, and was buried. And the third day He arose again, according to the Scriptures, and ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again with glory to judge the living and the dead; Whose Kingdom shall have no end. And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of Life, Who proceeds from the Father; Who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified; Who spoke by the prophets. In one Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins. I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Creed in Arabic

03 / Comfort

Verses from the Bible for those Needing Comfort

The Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him.

Psalm 32:8-10

Psalm 34:18-19

The LORD is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord rescues them from them all.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.

Psalm 32:8-10

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you. Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you. Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

04 / A beautiful poem

Beautiful Poem / Prayer

All for Jesus by Mary Dagworthy James (1810-1883)

All for Jesus! All for Jesus!

A prayer of devotion and trust.

All for Jesus! All for Jesus! All my being’s ransomed pow’rs, all my thoughts and words and doings, all my days and all my hours. Let my hands perform his bidding, let my feet run in his ways; let my eyes see Jesus only, let my lips speak forth his praise. Worldlings prize their gems of beauty, cling to gilded toys of dust, boast of wealth and fame and pleasure; only Jesus will I trust. Since my eyes were fixed on Jesus, I’ve lost sight of all beside; so enchained my spirit’s vision, looking at the Crucified. O what wonder! How amazing! Jesus, glorious King of kings, deigns to call me his beloved, lets me rest beneath his wings.
